We are very excited to congratulate Children's Literature Certificate student Lauren Clark, who is the recipient of the 2022 Carol Gay Award from the Children's Literature Association, for her paper “Welcome to Mr. Kraus’s Neighborhood: Understanding Elements of Horror as Subversive Tools for Children in the Daniel Kraus Archive.”
Clark worked on this paper with Prof. Courtney Weikle-Mills and Ben Rubin, the coordinator of the University Library System's Horror Studies collection.
The Carol Gay Award is an annual national competition for an outstanding paper by a college undergraduate which contributes to the field of children's literature. Clark's paper previously won the 2021 Children's Literature Paper Prize from Pitt's Children's Literature Program.
