Talk by Dr. Rebekah Fitzsimmons, "Moving Beyond the Blockbusters: Diversifying Children's Literature Studies with the Overlooked and Understudied"

Dr. Rebekah Fitzsimmons (Assistant Teaching Professor, CMU) will be visiting us virtually this semester to discuss her new edited collection on YA literature, Beyond the Blockbusters: Themes and Trends in Contemporary Young Adult Fiction (University Press of Mississippi, 2020). Her talk, “Moving Beyond the Blockbusters: Diversifying Children's Literature Studies with the Overlooked and Understudied,” will take place on October 14 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Dr. Fitzsimmons will discuss what we learn about young adulthood and politics when we read YA dystopias other than The Hunger Games and Divergent.
