The Children's Literature Paper competition was very hard to judge this year, with a large number of fantastic papers! The committee decided to recognize three exceptional papers:
1st Place ($300): Madeleine Shelley for "Sesame Street: The Gentrification and Destruction of Urban Childhood." Written for Englit 1645: Critical Approaches to Children's Literature with Dr. Courtney Weikle-Mills. Madeleine also did independent work with Dr. Tyler Bickford on this paper.
2nd Place ($100): Morgan Buck for "Black Girls as a Vehicle for Social Change." Written for Englit 1645: Critical Approaches to Children's Literature with Dr. Courtney Weikle-Mills.
